Google Tool Accesses SOP

Step 1: Confirm KYC Has Been Completed

Before requesting any access:

  • Ensure the Know Your Client (KYC) meeting has taken place
  • Confirm the following are known:
    • Primary domain(s)
    • Existing Google accounts (if any)
    • Primary point of contact
    • Scope of SEO, PPC, or e-commerce work

Do not request access before KYC is complete

Step 2: Send Access Request via Basecamp

All access requests must be sent via Basecamp, in line with the Basecamp SOP.

Action:

  1. Navigate to the client’s Basecamp project
  2. Create a new message
    “Google Platform Access Request”
  3. Clearly list:
    • Platforms required
    • Email address to grant access to
    • Permission level required (see below)

Permission Levels to Request

  • GSC – Full user
  • GA4 – Administrator
  • Merchant Centre – Admin
  • Google Ads – Admin

Step 3: Await Client Approval (No Chasing Yet)

  • The client will receive email notifications from Google asking them to approve access
  • Allow reasonable time for approval (normally 24–72 hours)
  • Do not begin work until access is confirmed

Step 4: Confirm Access via Email Acceptance

Access is confirmed only when:

  • An email confirmation is received on the correct Six AG email account, and
  • The invite has been accepted in that account

Confirmation Process

  1. Log into the relevant Six AG Google account:
  2. Accept the access invitation
  3. Log into the platform directly to confirm:
    • The account/property is visible
    • Correct permission level is applied

Step 5: Platform-Specific Validation Checks

Once access is accepted, perform a quick validation:

Google Search Console

  • Property is visible
  • Correct domain (Domain Property preferred)
  • Access level = Full user

Google Analytics (GA4)

  • Correct GA4 property
  • Admin access confirmed
  • Data stream visible

Google Merchant Center

  • Correct Merchant ID
  • Admin permissions confirmed
  • No immediate account warnings blocking access

Google Ads

  • Correct Ads account ID
  • Admin access confirmed
  • Ability to view campaigns, billing, and settings

Step 6: Update Basecamp (Mandatory)

Once access is confirmed:

Action:

  • Reply to the original Basecamp message or update the to-do with:
    • ✅ Platforms access granted
    • ✅ Date confirmed
    • ✅ Email used to accept access

Example Update:

“Access confirmed for GSC, GA4, Merchant Center and Google Ads

This step must be completed before the onboarding phase is marked as done.

Dependencies

  • This SOP must be followed alongside the Basecamp SOP
  • No SEO, PPC, reporting, or feed work should begin without confirmed access

Common Issues & Notes

  • If the client cannot see the email invite, ask them to check spam or confirm the correct email was added
  • If access is partial or incorrect, request access again via Basecamp
  • Never request access via personal email or Slack/WhatsApp

SOP Review

  • Review this SOP during onboarding reviews
  • Update if Google permission structures or Six AG email usage changes
